Stockholm: Lavillenie Seeking Revenge

16 June is the Date of Revenge. The world’s leading pole vaulter heads back to Stockholm where the Stadium Record is from the past millennium.

He is the reigning Olympic Champion; Highest in History with 19 jumps over six metres.  In 2014 Renaud Lavillenie was awarded the IAAF World Athlete of the Year as well as the prestigious Track and Field News Athlete of the Year. Still, the French World Record holder has never succeeded in Stockholm. Two years ago he came with a victory streak of 22 competitions, but left with no result, exhausted after his seventh European title and foiled by a troublesome wind.
On 16 June the Frenchman will arrive at BAUHAUS-galan in the early season with a few competitions already behind him. This winter he showed magnificent form, clearing over six meters in three of his last four competitions, crowning the season with his second Indoor World title. Stockholm actually witnessed a Pole Vault World Record as recently as four years ago when Yelena Isinbayeva achieved 5.01 m in the Globe Arena.
