Hassan, who broke the women’s mile world record in the middle of a sparkling season in Monaco last year, will return to compete in the women’s 5000m later this summer at the first competitive Wanda Diamond League meeting of the season with a comprehensive programme.
Fellow long distance star Joshua Cheptegei has also been confirmed for the men’s 5000m. The Ugandan returns to the circuit for the first time since he was crowned 5000m Diamond League Champion last year.
Venezuela’s triple jump world champion Yulimar Rojas will also return to Monaco this season, having soared to an impressive 14.98 in the city last year.
Finally, France’s very own Pascal Martinot-Lagarde is set to hit the track in the 110m hurdles. The reigning European champion will be out to claim his first victory at the Stade Louis II since 2014.
Meeting Herculis was originally scheduled to take place on July 10, but was postponed until August 14 due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
It now forms part of the re-organised Wanda Diamond League calendar for 2020, which can be viewed in full here.
In close collaboration with the Monegasque public authorities, the Wanda Diamond League and World Athletics, Herculis organisers have worked to ensure the highest level of health security for the public and athletes while offering a very high level of competition.
Wearing a mask will be compulsory when entering the stadium and hydroalcoholic gel will also be made available at the various entry points to the stadium as well as at strategic points.
Special reception conditions will also be set up in the stands where each family will be distanced by respecting the numbering of their ticket, in accordance with government directives.
Tickets are now on sale once again, and can be reserved here.
