Each year since the inaugural season of the IAAF Diamond League in 2010 the 32 winners of the Diamond Races receive along with the overall prize money a prestigious Diamond Trophy. Each trophy features three real athletics tracks in the shape of a lap holding a diamond. Now with four more events to go in 2014, all eyes are set on it.

How the track comes on the Diamond Trophy

The trophy is a result of outstanding craftsmanship at Ateliers Beyer, Goldsmiths and Jewellers in Zurich and CONICA in Schaffhausen, a global leader in the construction of sports floorings and specifically of high performance athletics tracks (www.conica.com). Several IAAF Diamond League events are staged on the company’s CONIPUR tracks, last was Monaco on 18th July, featuring outstanding results achieved by the athletes. Zurich with a substantially upgraded track, is to follow in the next weeks.

CONICA´s technicians have adapted the process of laying surfaces in the stadia to fill a total of 96 tracks on the 32 metal trophy bodies provided by Beyer and have just finalised all tracks, so the jewellers can now add the base and the diamond to the track bodies of the trophies. Hans-Jochen Erb, CONICA’s Manager Global Marketing Communications commented: "We are proud to be part of this project, the Diamond Trophy relays the essence of the IAAF Diamond League and the sport of Athletics – a diamond and a track".

16 of the Diamond Trophies will be awarded at each of the two final events of the IAAF Diamond League 2014 in Zurich on 28th August and in Brussels on 5th September. 32 happy winners of the Diamond Race will take their personal trophy home.
