London: Rutherford added to line-up

Greg Rutherford will join Jessica Ennis-Hill and Mo Farah at the Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games on 24-25 July, meaning all three ‘Super Saturday’ gold medallists will be reunited at the IAAF Diamond League meeting in London.

It will be the first time since the London 2012 Games that all three of Britain’s reigning Olympic champions will be at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Rutherford had been set to compete at the 2013 Anniversary Games, but a minor injury forced him to withdraw just days before the event.

British Athletics’ major events director Cherry Alexander hopes that fans will join the stars in making it a memorable return to the stadium.

“The Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games will be one of the biggest events in this summer’s sporting calendar and now that we know that Jess, Mo and Greg will be competing, we are hoping that the public will come and join them at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

“Some of the world’s best athletes and stars of London 2012 will be competing at the Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games and we believe that we can recreate the atmosphere of the 2013 Anniversary Games with packed crowds cheering them on.”

Tickets are now on sale to the general public at britishathletics.org.uk.
