Paris: 5 things to look out for

The final IAAF Diamond League meeting before the two Diamond Race finals in Züriuch and Brussels will take place in Paris on Saturday evening. We take you through the key Diamond Race clashes.

1. Can Perkovic stay unbeaten?

Sandra Perkovic has already won the Diamond Trophy on three different occasions, and she is going for a fourth triumph in the next weeks. Her fourth could be particularly special, as she is on course to become the first athlete to claim maximum Diamond Race points by winning every single round of the season long competition.

2. Who will hold their nerve in the hurdles?

It’s tight at the top in the men’s 400m hurdles Diamond Race, with only three points separating Kerron Clement, Michael Tinsley and Javier Culson. All three will line up in Paris as they try to get the upper hand ahead of the Diamond Race final. Clement stole top spot with victory in London, and went on to win Olympic gold. Culson, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back from his disappointment in Rio.

3. Can Bosse take the lead at home?

Pierre-Ambroise Bosse currently sits just four points behind Diamond Race leader Ferguson Cheruiyot Rotich in the men’s 800m. With the home crowd behind him, the Meeting de Paris is a huge opportunity for Bosse to beat Rotich over the line and take a points lead into the Diamond Race final.

4. Kiyeng and Jebet go head to head!

Hyvin Kiyeng and Ruth Jebet are currently deadlocked on 26 points and two victories in the women’s 3000m steeplechase Diamond Race. With the final approaching, both women will line up in Paris in a bid to get the upper hand for the final straight. This is the first time they have faced each other since Eugene.

5. Schippers out for glory in the 200m

Dafne Schippers lost her place at the top of the 100m Diamond Race standings on Thursday night, when Elaine Thompson ran to victory in Lausanne. The Dutchwoman is still top of the table in the 200m, however, and will be looking to extend her lead ahead of the final, to end the season with yet another piece of silverware.

#Rio2016 silver medallist @dafne_schippers is currently top of the 200m #DiamondRace. Will she be there at the #ZurichDL final in 10 days time?
