Live athletics returned to our screens with the Bislett Impossible Games on Thursday, but the wait goes on for the 2020 season to resume in full. And where better to wait than in the call room?
In the latest of our lockdown series, we look back on some of the greatest moments in the history of the Paris Diamond League on a day which should have seen this year’s edition of Meeting de Paris.
Joining us for exclusive interviews this time around are Diamond League record champion and French superstar Renaud Lavillenie, Canadian pole vault record holder Alysha Newman and 400m world record holder and Olympic champion Wayde Van Niekerk.
Newman tells us about breaking the national record in Paris last year, French-language banter on the Paris pole vault runway and her longstanding dream of being crowned Diamond League Champion.
Fellow pole vaulter Lavillenie, meanwhile, looks back on some of his home-soil highlights and tells us why he thinks new world record holder Mondo Duplantis could jump as high as 6.25m before his career is up.
Meanwhile, South African superstar Van Niekerk opens up about his injury turmoil over the last three years, why he cried before his record-breaking Olympic triumph, and tells us how he is ready to make a long-awaited return to action once lockdown lifts.
Tune in on Facebook and YouTube from 18.00 GMT on Saturday, or watch via the stream below.
