As per the original 2020 Wanda Diamond League calendar, the Meeting International Mohammed VI was set to take place in Rabat this Sunday.
Instead, we continue to wait for the global pandemic to recede, so that top level athletics can resume on the Diamond League circuit. And where better to wait than in the call room?
In the latest episode of our lockdown series, we are joined by an all-African line-up of track superstars, with Nijel Amos, Marie-Josée Ta Lou and Blessing Okagbare chatting to host Tom Byrne about their memories of past performances in Rabat.
Ivorian star Ta Lou talks of her desire to inspire the next generation of African sprinters, while Amos explains how changes to his technique have transformed him from a mid-range, trundling Toyota into a sleak, sporting Bugatti.
Okagbare, who was made more Diamond League appearances than any other woman in history, tells how she originally became a sprinter, how studying are keeping her sane in lockdown, and why she feels like she represent’s the whole continent of Africa when she competes in Rabat.
We also have a cameo appearance from local steeplechase hero Soufiane El Bakkali, as well as all the best moments from the last four years of the Rabat Diamond League.
