US sprint talent Sha’Carri Richardson will be looking to put her Olympic disappointment behind her when she returns to action against all three 2021 Olympic medallists in a star-studded women’s 100m at the ninth Wanda Diamond League meeting of the season in Eugene on August 21st.
Having missed out on the games, Richardson will be out to prove she is among the best in the world and pick up the first Diamond League win of her career on home soil at the Nike Prefontaine Classic.
She will face all three of Jamaica’s 100m medallists from Tokyo, with Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah, silver medallist and four-time Diamond League champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and bronze medallist Shericka Jackson all looking to pick up more points and nail down their place in the Wanda Diamond League final on September 8th and 9th.
There is also no shortage of talent in the rest of the field: Switzerland’s Mujinga Kambundji and Marie-Josée Ta Lou were both Olympic finalists and have 12 career Diamond League wins between them, while US stars Teahna Daniels, Javianne Oliver and Brianna Williams make up a field in which every single athlete has a personal best under 11 seconds.
